David Ashworth is a freelance education consultant, specialising in music technology. He has been involved at a national level in most of the major music initiatives in recent years.
Other work has included consultancy for BBC Education, Paul Hamlyn Foundation, Friday Afternoons, Trinity/OU, Inclusive Music and CPD design and delivery for many LEAs and Music Hubs. He is leading a number of projects in the North West of England and elsewhere on the use of ICT in live performance. His current research work is focussing on the use of mobile technologies in music education.
He has successfully led Lancashire Music Service’s flagship ICT initiative, ICreaTe, for the last five years. This has had a major impact on the way primary and secondary schools across the county use music technology in creative music making.
He was responsible for setting up and managing the Teaching Music and TeachTalk:Music online spaces which helped establish use of online spaces for music teachers to share resources and discuss issues in music education.
