Jim Harrison is head of music at the Latymer School, Edmonton. Prior to working in secondary schools he was involved in various areas of music education: lecturing at the Royal Welsh College of Music & Drama; teaching at the University of Birmingham and Royal Holloway College; and tutoring in adult education (composition, contemporary music and string orchestra coaching). Other freelance work has included a range of composition commissions, working as an arranger and copyist for Ray Davies, and working as a statistician for a BBC football commentator. He currently delivers the A-level part of the PGCE course at the Institute of Education and runs A-level and GCSE INSET courses for Keynote Educational. He is also co-author of Rhinegold Education's Key Stage 3 Listening Tests Books 1 and 2, and Edexcel GCSE Listening Tests: Book 3. He completed his PhD composition portfolio and thesis in 2002.
